As the academic year draws to a close and the summer holidays begin to fill the minds and hearts of our students, the Kalogeropoulos Conservatoire is offering a brief extension of its educational activities during the first two weeks of July (2–6 and 9-13 July), through alternative musical and artistic programmes.
These are relaxed sessions, free from the pressures of annual syllabi and examinations, giving children the chance to discover another side of music – one of ensemble playing and collaboration.
Piano workshops will include music games to develop understanding of rhythm and musical symbols, collective playing on this typically solitary instrument, listening sessions across different periods and styles, and collaboration with other instruments.
Classical and modern guitar workshops will focus on score reading and performance, ensemble creation, tuning techniques and intelligent use of chords, as well as the use of effects (chorus, overdrive, delay, etc.) – always with engaging audiovisual material.
Drums and percussion workshops will be conducted in groups, focusing on technical development through score reading, alternating between solo and tutti playing, and the interactive consolidation of educational material.
Theatre play and puppet theatre workshops will introduce children to the magical world of puppet theatre, constructing their own finger or glove puppets from simple materials.
