PRESS RELEASE

Athens, 20 March 2019

On the occasion of World Theatre Day, the Cultural Foundation of the Piraeus Group (PIOP), in collaboration with Fondation Kaloy, is organising a music-theatre event for children aged 3 to 8, entitled ‘Hercules and the Stymphalian Birds’, at the Museum of the Environment in Stymphalia.

Wednesday 27 March 2019, 10:30

The talented musician Fani Gevetzis will use Orff instruments (percussion, metallophones, xylophones, improvised instruments, and body percussion), songs (composed specifically for this event), narration, dialogue, poems, improvisation, and movement to inspire the children themselves to present this story through their own eyes, with an emphasis on the values of cooperation and teamwork.

The event will be accompanied by songs and sounds created by the young participants during the session, drawing inspiration from the flora and fauna of lakes and wetlands, and thus constructing a unique soundscape.

Participants will have the opportunity to discover the myth associated with Lake Stymphalia in a creative and entertaining way, and to understand the beauty of nature through the boundless possibilities of music.

Duration: 30 minutes. Admission is free. Registration is required.
