“Listening to the Young”
Amid a mood of joy and optimism, yesterday, 15/03/2023, saw the launch, in the events hall of Fondation Kaloy, of the alliance between Fondation Kaloy, the Athens Concert Hall, the Third Programme, and the association Diazoma, for the innovative “Listening to the Young” programme.
Joining us were Mr. Nikos Bimplis, President of the Athens Concert Hall, Mrs. Eirini Andreadi, Production Director of the Athens Concert Hall, Mr. Stavros Bebenis, President of the association Diazoma, Mr. Giorgos Kourtoupis, composer, Mr. Christos Papageorgiou, pianist and radio producer for the Third Programme, who, following the welcome from the President of Fondation Kaloy, Mrs. Maria Christara, and the detailed presentation of the programme by Mrs. Popi Malapani, spoke with warm words about the trajectory of the Foundation, the significance of the programme for all young musicians in Greece, and the prospects opened up by this new cultural synergy of institutions in our country.
Also speaking, with visible emotion, were Mrs. Athina Korka, official of the Region of Peloponnese for culture in Corinthia, Mr. Stathis Gyftakis, Director of the Kalamata Municipal Conservatory, Mr. Panagiotis Theodosiou, Director of the Fondation Kaloy Conservatory, and Mrs. Iris Kritikou, visual artist and exhibition curator, while the presentation concluded with a performance by Kostas Markou, a graduating student of the Kalamata Municipal Conservatory (a student of Mr. Loukas Georgas), who performed important works of the classical repertoire on piano.
We were also joined by our invaluable sponsor Mr. Tasos Papafilis, Mr. Georgios Tsogkas, Mrs. Maria Thelerity, Mrs. Elina Menounou, Deputy Mayor for Culture of the Municipality of Xylokastro-Evrostini, and Mrs. Olga Konomodi, President of the Alkyonides Literary and Arts Association, along with representatives of the local media and friends of Fondation Kaloy.
The “Listening to the Young” programme, which aims to introduce young musicians to their future audience through the organisation of multiple concerts and recordings, and to strengthen cultural activity in Corinthia and the Peloponnese, is made possible thanks to the generosity of our sponsors VINCI, the Fourlis family, and Diazoma, as corporate members, and thanks to the support of the Region of Peloponnese and the Municipality of Corinth.
