Beyond the fundamental principles that underpin painting, drawing, and sculpture, the most important element in art is the personal vision of each creator. The aim of these classes is for students to discover and broaden their personal perception of space and environment, their visual outlook, and their individual skills, so as to achieve their desired outcome. This ability is developed through the full course of instruction and practical exercises.

Students are taught the basic principles of drawing, sketching, sculpture, and colour – concepts such as tone, form, composition, and aesthetics – as well as working with materials including graphite, acrylics, and clay, both on compositions provided in the studio and on freely chosen themes.

Evangelos Rakopoulos is a visual artist, a graduate of the 4th Technical and Vocational School of Athens in applied arts (graphic arts department). He studied painting at the Plaka Arts Centre, has taught drawing to children at the Atsoglou schools, and works as a freelance visual artist (painting, sculpture, and children’s storybooks). The inspiration for his children’s stories comes from his two children.

Classes begin Tuesday 3 October.
